Description

aespa (stylized as æspa) is a dominant four-member South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment.

Known for their futuristic “metaverse” concept and hyperpop-infused sound, the group consists of members Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning.

They debuted on November 17, 2020, with the hit single “Black Mamba” and have since become one of the most successful acts in global K-pop.

Giselle

Main rapper and sub-vocalist.

Background: Japanese-Korean with Japanese citizenship.

Birthplace: Born in Garosugil, Seoul, South Korea, but raised in Tokyo, Japan.

Karina

Leader, main dancer, and rapper.

Background: South Korean.

Birthplace: Suwon, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

Ningning

Main vocalist.

Background: Chinese.

Birthplace: Harbin, Heilongjiang, China.

Winter

Lead vocalist and lead dancer.

Background: South Korean.

Birthplace: Busan, South Korea.

 

The name “aespa” comes from combining “æ” (Avatar X Experience) and “aspect”. Their signature lore revolves around interacting with their virtual avatar counterparts (known as æ-members) in a digital world called KWANGYA.

Their fans are officially named MY, which translates to “the most precious friend” within their lore.

 

The AESPA – [DIRTY WORK] (DIRTY WORKER VER.) Single Album is the primary photobook edition of the global K-pop group’s first single album. Released on June 27, 2025, via SM Entertainment and Kakao Entertainment, this physical release follows aespa’s historic recognition as Billboard’s 2025 Group of the Year.
